I just found this driver online for the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family which Intel chose to orphan by not releasing Windows 8 drivers for. This effectively means anyone with a laptop with this (or any of these other) graphics chips cannot upgrade to Windows 8.
I can’t understand this either since Windows 8 is so similar to Windows 7 and, beyond that, the interface of Windows 8 is more primitive and less graphics intensive.
Intel has no plans to release Windows 8 graphics drivers for the following Intel Graphics Controllers. However, updates for these graphics controllers may be available through Microsoft Windows Update*.

But I wonder if it is a good idea to install Windows 8 and have to rely upon an unsupported community driver?
