New LED bulb

This is a new 5000K LED bulb I ordered. It actually contains several LED bulbs inside. It is extremely bright for its small size. This is an “intermediate” base or E17 bulb, about half the size of a standard bulb.

This bulb is a test for cosmetics application. While I like the bulb, the temperature is too cool for makeup. While I have no equipment to graph the output spectrum, I know that one major flaw of LED lighting is that they do not provide continuous, smooth power output across the temperature spectrum. It may be that this bulb is outputing a fairly narrow band of light around 5000-5500 K as it was rated.

Still, I want to get some gels and try modifying the light a bit. And, even though the temperature is too cool for makeup application, it is a neat color, different from standard warm lighting. The mood it creates is very different, more of an awake, “let’s focus” kind of mood.
