Slavery. Government. The economy. Media.

If there were a proposal to introduce slavery in the US those in favor of it would have no problem coming up with arguments that it is “good for America” and “good for the economy” almost identical to the arguments in favor of mass amnesty.

Furthermore, if there were such a proposal, there would no doubt be an ongoing flurry of articles, reports, and opinion pieces in the mass media stating how most people support it and why it is long overdo and much needed.

But of course introducing slavery in the US, even if there were support for it, even if it were to benefit “the economy”, would not be good for the US. Even if some US citizens would derive profit or other “benefit” from it, it would not be good, because slavery is wrong, it is a poison, it is sick.

Granting mass amnesty to 20 million people, two-thirds of whom have no high-school diploma, is not good for the US. While some may profit or otherwise “benefit” from it, there are many who lose.

It should never be the policy of a government to benefit others at the expense of its own citizens.
