The delusion of “renewable” energy

I just read an article which states that Germany has arrived at the level of producing 22% of their power from “renewable” energy sources.

But isn’t it obvious that what is called renewable energy is a delusion?

Let’s consider a hypothetical scenario. What would happen if the availability of fossil fuels drastically drops? For this hypothetical scenerio, let’s just assume that, starting tomorrow, the amount of fossil fuels available to Germany is 50% of what it is today.

It would be interesting to actually tweak this number and see what the effects would be at say 60%, 70%, etc. My guess is that even a drop of more than a fifth or so would start to cause serious problems. Once the level gets to 50% my guess is there would be rather drastic problems.

If starting tomorrow Germany only had 50% of the fossil fuels available to it, to what extent would it be able to entertain the “renewable” energy delusion? If they had just installed bunch of brand new solar and wind systems, how long could those systems be expected to last before requiring either repair or replacement? Ten years? Twenty? Thirty? All these numbers are paltry. Even a half-century is paltry when one considers it. Even if the existing installations could be operation for a half century, what happens when they break down?

The abundance of fossil fuels has created an intoxication so great that people don’t see that what is considered renewable energy is mostly just a delusion not really tied to reality. When fossil fuels are depleted, along with the massive negative effects that their burning will be having on ecosystems and the environment, it doesn’t seem realistic at all that humans will be able to maintain the necessary technological infrastructure to continue to maintain, produce, and deploy “renewable” energy systems.

The intoxication from fossil fuels is so strong that its almost impossible now for people to think clearly and realize how drastic the shifts in the future will be when they are depleted.

Trying to prop up existing infrastructure – even the vestigal remains of it – will be like that Dali painting of the woman propped up by all these flimsy stilts. Why can’t humans think more clearly and utilize their minds to really solve problems?

I honestly think that there’s a massive fear behind all the delusion. There’s a massive fear of losing everything. People cannot see it as good or beneficial that they will “lose” all this stuff. Its sad because that view is not really true at all.

But in order to make that transition smoothly requires people to make these leaps and most are too afraid to do so. We will increasingly see dissonances between what is caused by fear and what will need to be because of reality.

It is highly delusional when there is so much serious expenditure of resources and attention on “renewable” energy while there is so little on the things which would really make a significant difference. It is indicative of mass delusion and vastly warped priorities. The fact that no one is bicycling and that public transit is an appalling mess, while remaining miniscule priorities, in comparison with the hype given to “renewable” energy indicates that there is delusion on a massive scale.

Its like some disgusting rich slob who can’t be bothered to get out and exercise, go running or hiking, take a yoga or Pilates class, yet they want to be beautiful and so go pay to have liposuction and cosmetic surgery.

The bottom line is that renewable energy is a tecno-gobbeldy-gook jackoff trip diverting people from confronting the truth and from finding real solutions to sustainable living.

Having discussions about the latest liposuction and nip and tuck procedures isn’t going to help at a time when we need to be focusing most clearly on our health and well-being.
