A good read in preparation for listening to this is the Wikipedia [I know 🙄] article Slavery in medieval Europe. The word slave comes directly from “slavic”. Slavic peoples were kidnapped and sold as slaves to Muslims. Jews were the biggest slave traders. At one time Islam was synonymous with kidnapping and enslavement, just as Christianity was synonymous with anti-slavery.
