UPDATE: So, after all, it may not have been decoded. In fact, according to some serious scholars, it has not been.

arstechnica.com: No, someone hasn’t cracked the code of the mysterious Voynich manuscript

——————————————————————————

The up-till-now mysterious Voynich Manuscript which some had even speculated was a forgery has been decoded. It was written by a nun for the Queen of Aragon – Maria – on the island of Ischia, sometime in or after the year 1444.

The language of the manuscript is Proto-Romance, which the article describes as “a language that arose from a blend of spoken Latin (Vulgar Latin) and other languages across the Mediterranean during the early Medieval period following the collapse of the Roman Empire and subsequently evolved into the many Romance languages”. Therefore it is perhaps erroneously that Wikipedia redirects “Proto Romance” to “Vulgar Latin”.

Because Ischia had many hot volcanic spas and a bathing culture, many of the pictures in the manuscript feature naked bathing women. Maria apparently even conducted negotiations while bathing. Her husband Alfonso conquered Naples.

I can absolutely guarantee you one thing: If swarms of pinhead roastie dumbfuck invaders from Africa and Arabia had dared to even touch foot on Ischia they would have been summarily slaughtered by Maria and Alfonso’s soldiers.
