It non-infrequently happens that one needs to replace a power supply to a device or appliance. Power supplies are perhaps the most brittle component in a system. Fortunately replacing power supplies is mostly a trivial matter.
Here is one interesting fact about power supplies which many may not know: When replacing a power supply, it is always necessary to match the voltage exactly. However the amperage – the amount of current – can actually be higher than the power supply being replaced.
A power supply with a higher current rating (amps) will actually run cooler and more steady than one with less current. The device it powers only draws as much current as it actually needs.
