Pardon Edward Snowden, Impeach those with faux indignation

In this time of so much disinformation and propaganda its difficult to know how much of the official statements and responses within and without the US to the revelations about NSA surveillance are real and how much is simply faux.

It has been known for years that the NSA has a special submarine specifically designed to cut into undersea cables. This was mentioned on Slashdot and other sites. In fact, after the flurry of articles about the submarine there were a series of suspicious disruptions of major undersea cables.

I don’t think any country in the world seriously questions that the NSA is doing the things Edward Snowden said. Also, as far as domestic surveillance goes, its basically the same thing. There have been different revelations over time of different bits about the NSA setting up various pieces of infrastructure to surveil the public.

Of course whenever official statements were made or when politicians spoke about it, they usually distorted it to some degree. What Edward Snowden did was state it all, everything, point blank. This is the reality. This is what is happening. This is how it is done. It is happening now.

It shows how strange things are, that basically all this information was out there, but it just slipped by as the Big Deception and Big Distraction keep people occupied with other things.

There is a whitehouse.gov petition to pardon Edward Snowden. Please sign it. But one thing the petition says is: “Edward Snowden is a national hero…”

Let’s be clear about this. At this unique, special, and unfortunately quite rare moment, it is important to understand that he is not a national hero, he is a global hero. Edward Snowden is standing up for humanity, globally. Surveillance state is surveillance state. Let’s forget all the national garbage and remember that we are all citizens of the world. The vast, vast majority of human beings are people like us who are living their lives, working hard to have a good life, and who expect and fully deserve what the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution explicitly grants for Americans but which of course without question is true for every human being in the world.

I sincerely hope that people do not let this degenerate into some nationalistic garbage about how “we” need to be protected blah blah blah blah, and that there is a “they” blah blah blah. This is a fundamental issue of human freedom on Planet Earth at the time that the human family is the most interconnected and connected that it has ever been.

All countries which stand for freedom – and really hopefully one day we can just ditch the concept of countries completely – should be at the forefront to ensure and protect to the utmost human freedom and rights, which includes the right to be free from unwarranted search and seizure.

Rather than having submarines designed to splice into undersea trans-ocean communication cables, we should have submarines design to survey and ensure their integrity to protect privacy of communication and data.
