If you want one of the coolest mobile smartphones on the planet

This is the coolest custom ROM for the T-Mobile (and MetroPCS) Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

TEKXodus HYBRID N4

Here is a list of new features in the latest “N5R9” release which was made on February 17. Ok, so someone who doesn’t know may read this list and wonder “What? What is all this?”

What this all is is *cool*! Waay cool! There are a lot of features from the more expensive Note 5. Basically this ROM supes up the Note 4 so much that its almost like having a completely different device. This happens because Samsung is always updating features in its newer devices while its older ones remain stagnant. So what developers like TEKXodus do is take a lot of these newer apps and features and create a custom build for older devices. And they also add a bunch of other cool features which are not included in Samsung’s releases.

One thing to be aware of when installing this ROM is that you also have to install a kernel with it. You can find the link for the BeastMode kernel in the forum.

Migrating to this new ROM is trivial if you use TitaniumBackup Pro and do a batch backup of all apps + data (available from the menu under batch actions). Then after the ROM is installed you install TitaniumBackup again and select batch restore of all apps + data.

However I don’t actually restore ALL apps. I selectively restore only the actual apps that I need and use which contain my important user data. I also restore SMS messages, the phone log, bluetooth pairings, and accounts.

You can find information about all this from many other places online including TitaniumBackup’s own website but its pretty straightforward to use.

After the restore is complete you will still have to do some minor tidying up. For example after my owncloud account is restored I still need to go into the settings and reselect the calendar to sync. I also have to go into language & input settings and re-enable the alternate keyboards I use.

The entire process of backup, flashing the ROM, restoring apps, and final tidying up takes less than a half hour.
